On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, on December 3rd, meetings with users were organized at the Career Centers for Persons with Disabilities in Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, and Subotica.
Career advisors organized special events, December Tea Parties, during which beneficiaries had the opportunity to relax, share experiences, and enjoy the warm atmosphere before the holiday season. The tea parties were not only an opportunity for socializing but also for providing support in planning future steps in their professional journey.
In a pleasant setting, beneficiaries were introduced to new opportunities, refreshed existing contacts, and at the same time, reflected on new challenges and opportunities ahead. The organizers made sure that every detail was thoughtfully planned to create a comfortable and inspiring atmosphere filled with warmth, community, and optimism for the coming year.
At the Career Center for Persons with Disabilities in Novi Sad, a gathering with beneficiaries was organized, including decorating the Christmas tree, laughter, fun, hot drinks, cookies, and a raffle. The winners of the raffle received small prizes.
In Zrenjanin, in addition to the beneficiaries of the Career Center services, the event was attended by career advisor Silvija Savin from the National Employment Service, as well as department head Tanja Tomin. The attendees had the opportunity to enjoy poetry recited by a talented poetess, who is also a beneficiary of the Career Center.
In Subotica, the tea party was organized at the Blaha Lujza pastry shop. This pastry shop is well known to the locals, as, in addition to its signature cakes and sweets, it also employs people with disabilities. Besides the beneficiaries of the Career Center services, the event was attended by Mr. Đenđi Seleši, a member of the city council responsible for social protection and healthcare, Hajnalka Matin, the deputy mayor of Subotica, responsible for education, healthcare, and social protection, as well as Marija Kovač, a school counselor at OISŠ “Dositej Obradović”, primary and secondary school.
The tea parties were organized as an activity of the Career Centers within the project “Job Fit: Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities”, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the Youth with Disabilities Forum. The project’s other partners include Caritas Serbia, the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, Smart Kolektiv, and the Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities.
