Guest Lecture by the Youth with Disabilities Forum at the Faculty of Special Education and Rehabilitation

On Friday, 16 January 2026, a guest lecture was held at the Faculty of Special Education and Rehabilitation, University of Belgrade, delivered by the career counsellor of the Youth with Disabilities Forum as part of practical exercises within the course dedicated to professional rehabilitation and employment.

During the lecture, students were introduced to an overview of the current labour market situation, the specificities of the employment process for persons with intellectual disabilities, models of working with individuals with intellectual disabilities to support their employment, as well as the most common challenges candidates face during their job search — from selection stages to integration into the work environment. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of adequate support measures, accessible communication, and an individualized approach to each candidate.

Career counsellor Milica Glišić also shared concrete experiences of the Youth with Disabilities Forum, including examples of successfully implemented workplace inclusion processes and practical guidelines for cooperation between professionals, employers, and families. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, participate in discussions, and exchange insights from their own practical experience.

This guest lecture contributed to a deeper understanding of the professional opportunities available to persons with intellectual disabilities, as well as the role of future professionals in creating an inclusive and supportive environment in the field of work and employment.
