On November 27, 2023, within the premises of the Youth with Disabilities Forum in Belgrade, the final installment of a series of round table discussions was convened, organized by the Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities of Serbia.
These round tables served as platforms to unveil the outcomes of an in-depth analysis of both national and local legislation pertaining to employment, with a special emphasis on individuals with disabilities.
Throughout the month of September, similar round table sessions were conducted in Zrenjanin and Valjevo, followed by events in Niš and Novi Sad during October. The concluding session took place in Subotica on November 22, marking the culmination of this series, which forms an integral part of the overarching project titled “Job Fit: Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities”.
In addition to the presentation of policy analysis findings and recommendations aimed at enhancing the labor market participation of persons with disabilities, the meetings sought to delineate the challenges encountered by this demographic in the employment sphere. Moreover, they aimed to propose actionable recommendations for surmounting these obstacles, providing a foundational framework for advocating public policy changes and improvements.
These round table discussions are conducted under the auspices of the Job Fit project, a collaborative endeavor in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Joining hands in this initiative are esteemed partners such as Caritas of Serbia, the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, Smart Kolektiv, and the Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities.
