The trilateral conference “Empowered” was held on October 22, 2025, in Sarajevo, under the theme “Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, Regional Cooperation, and Development in the Western Balkans.” The conference brought together representatives of institutions, civil society organizations, the private sector, and international partners with the aim of strengthening regional cooperation and promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities.
At the conference in Sarajevo, Youth with Disabilities Forum was represented by Milica Glišić. The goal of the event was to foster dialogue on improving the rights and position of persons with disabilities in the region.
The conference gathered over 70 representatives from ministries, institutions, local governments, civil society organizations, and persons with disabilities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro. Participants exchanged experiences and defined key recommendations for long-term systemic changes that will contribute to a more inclusive society.
Participants agreed that the inclusion of persons with disabilities must be a universal topic, not just a local initiative.
Key recommendations from the conference include:
- Supporting the public sector in implementing systemic reforms and inclusive strategies
- Engaging the private sector through incentives and campaigns to eliminate stigma
- Strengthening the role of civil society organizations as a bridge between communities and institutions
- Ensuring transparent use of funds for employing persons with disabilities
- Establishing regional working groups and developing a joint declaration on inclusion
Through her participation, Milica Glišić contributed to the exchange of ideas and the strengthening of regional cooperation, emphasizing the importance of communication, visibility, and joint action in the fight for equality and inclusion.
