The inaugural training module for counselors, designed to bolster support for individuals with disabilities seeking employment, has been successfully executed

Facilitated by the Youth with Disabilities Forum in collaboration with Caritas Serbia, this initial module, conducted in Belgrade from May 15 to 18, 2023, marks the commencement of a comprehensive program. The complete training endeavor seeks to equip professional staff with the necessary skills to empower individuals with disabilities in their pursuit of meaningful employment, over the course of the next three years.

The overarching objective is to offer tailored assistance to individuals with disabilities throughout their job search journey. This includes fostering self-recognition of capabilities, facilitating the identification of suitable professional goals, providing referrals for additional training, and nurturing the development of essential social and soft skills. Central to this initiative is the provision of continuous, personalized support, aimed at empowering individuals with disabilities for success in the labor market.

Throughout the training, slated for completion by the end of June, 13 participants will acquire crucial skills and practical tools for delivering psychosocial support, career guidance, and counseling services tailored to the needs of people with disabilities. The training curriculum covers a spectrum of topics relevant to working with individuals with disabilities, equipping participants with the requisite methodologies and instruments to craft comprehensive employment plans that enhance employability and foster economic empowerment.

This initiative is conducted in collaboration with the PaMark Vocational Rehabilitation Institution from Podgorica, under the auspices of the “Job Fit: Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities” project. Supported by the American Agency for International Development (USAID), this project stands as a testament to collective efforts, with esteemed partners including the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, Caritas Serbia, Smart Kolektiv, and the Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities of Serbia.

The employment support service for individuals with disabilities is scheduled to commence on August 1, 2023, and will be accessible across six cities in Serbia: Belgrade, Novi Sad, Subotica, Zrenjanin, Valjevo, and Niš.
